Beginning July 1, 2026, Illinois offers Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal license plates. You must live in Illinois and have the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal for service after July 1, 1958, in qualifying U.S. military, U.N.-support, or allied-assistance operations. Apply on the Secretary of State’s form and pay the required fees. Plates fit passenger cars, motorcycles, and second‑division vehicles up to 8,000 pounds. They use the standard staggered multi‑year expiration. The Secretary of State sets the design, may allow vanity or personalized versions and stickers/decals, and the plate does not have to say “Land of Lincoln.”
