Standard sexual misconduct survey at colleges

Illinois sets one core survey on campus sexual misconduct for all covered colleges. A Task Force recommends the questions, and the state higher‑ed boards approve them. Schools use this base survey and may add campus‑specific questions. The survey counts part‑time, full‑time, and extension students. It also includes students on leave or who withdrew because of victimization.

Fines for colleges that break survey rules

The state can fine a college up to $50,000 per violation, adjusted each year for inflation. A fine follows notice, a hearing, and a finding of a violation. The Attorney General can go to court to collect unpaid fines. Collected fines fund oversight and community groups that help sexual assault victims.
