The law requires three state higher‑ed agencies to post a Statewide Data Dashboard online. They must release it by March 15, 2027 and every March 15 after. It shows data for every public and private college in Illinois. The site is public and lets you download the data files. It includes, at minimum, student and staff demographics; college size and mission; costs like tuition, fees, housing, average net price; loan repayment rates; and student success (enrollment, retention, completion) with breakdowns where available. It also shows five-year comparisons when feasible and flags Hispanic- and minority‑serving status and Carnegie Classification. The agencies set the final indicators with stakeholders and use current dashboard tech unless a better option is practical.
The dashboard cannot publish data that identifies any student. It may not share students’ personal identifying information. Each agency keeps control of its own data. Agencies can sign data‑sharing agreements to build the dashboard, but must follow state and federal privacy laws. The three agencies can adopt joint rules to run and update the dashboard.
