State task force on industrial zoning impacts

The law creates a Task Force in the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. It studies how large industrial projects affect nearby towns, homes, health, traffic, and property values. It reviews zoning and annexation rules in Illinois and other states, and recent cases, including a 101-acre site near Deerfield. Members include state officials, lawmakers, city and county groups, business and labor, park districts, and land-use attorneys. Members serve without pay, and the Department provides staff support. The Task Force meets at least every two months and elects a chair at its first meeting. It must deliver findings and recommendations to the Governor and General Assembly by December 31, 2025. The section ends on June 1, 2026. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
