Electric utilities must get a siting permit before site prep, construction, or using eminent domain for a transmission line. The application must show the line’s location and list landowners of record whose land is taken or who live within 660 feet of the center line. The Commission must set a public hearing within 90 days in a county the line will cross. The Commission must issue a final order 120 to 180 days after the filing date. The act repeals the prior version of this statute and replaces it with these updated rules. The law takes effect when published in the Kansas Register.
