Cities can lower the posted speed in residence districts from 30 to 25 mph without a traffic study. Any neighborhood speed set below 30 mph before this law stays valid. Cities do not need a new study to keep those lower limits. You are affected only if your city makes this change or already had a sub-30 mph limit.
A city can pass an ordinance to let people drive golf carts on sidewalks. The driver must be at least 16 and have a valid class C license. The sidewalk must border a street that bans golf carts under state law. This applies only where a city adopts such an ordinance.
Local authorities over county or township highways can set speed limits with or without a traffic and engineering study. Any limit they set cannot be higher than 65 mph. Your local board can choose higher or lower speeds on these roads.
