The law repeals K.S.A. 2-128 and K.S.A. 19-2699. This cleans up the code to match the new county fair board rules. The law takes effect upon publication in the statute book.
The law sets up county fair boards in Butler and Cloud counties. Butler County’s board has 15 members; Cloud County’s board has 12. The presiding county commissioners appoint members each December. One member comes from each commissioner district. Butler can also appoint up to five at-large members; Cloud appoints one at-large member. Any resident of voting age in the county is eligible. Terms are three years, from January 1 to December 31, with unlimited consecutive terms. Vacancies are filled by the remaining board members for the rest of the term. Each board elects a president, vice president, secretary, and treasurer from its members. The law takes effect upon publication in the statute book.
