The law repeals the Kansas statute that put sheriffs in charge of county jails and made them and their sureties liable for official acts. Sheriffs and their sureties are no longer liable under that repealed section. The law does not create a new jail-custody or liability rule in its place. The law takes effect upon publication in the statute book or Kansas Register.
