Licensed land surveyors and local officials now have 90 days, not 30, to file survey reference and restoration reports on U.S. public land survey corners. Reports go to the Kansas State Historical Society and the county surveyor; if none, file with the county engineer, road department, or a county‑designated office. You may file electronically if the Historical Society allows it. A filing fee applies to reference and restoration reports; the Historical Society sets the amount and collects payment at filing. After work ends, you must file a restoration report within 30–90 days; replace and report any corner you altered, or file a no‑damage report. Not following these rules can trigger license suspension or revocation, and failing to set required reference points is a Class C misdemeanor. The prior statute is repealed and replaced; the Historical Society may charge for copies and uses a dedicated fee fund, with 10% sent to the state general fund.
