From July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2030, the Court can add up to $22 to the $173 district court docket fee. It can add up to $19 to each limited civil action and up to $12.50 to small claims. The 20‑small‑claims‑per‑court‑per‑year filer limit still applies. Probate filings can see up to $22 more. Poverty affidavit waivers under K.S.A. 60‑2001 remain available where allowed.
From July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2030, the Court can add up to $10 to each appeals filing fee. In criminal cases, it can add up to $22 when the court orders the prosecuting witness or defendant to pay costs. For post‑decree family law motions, it can add up to $22 per motion.
From July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2030, the Court can add up to $22 to the $14 lien filing fee. It can add up to $22 to the $14 notice‑of‑pendency filing. It can also add up to $22 to bond, lien, or judgment filings. Filers pay the extra amount per filing.
From July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2030, the Court can add up to $12.50 per request for certain writs, orders, sales, attachments, and related hearings. For garnishment filings, clerks still charge $7.50, and the Court can add up to $12.50 more. You may seek a waiver by filing a poverty affidavit under K.S.A. 60‑2001.
From July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2030, the Kansas Supreme Court can add up to $22 to the docket fee in juvenile code cases. Only one docket fee is charged per case. Parties pay the extra amount set by the Court.
From July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2030, the Court can add up to $19 to conviction‑expungement and arrest‑expungement filings. For juvenile expungements, the docket fee is $176, and the Court can add up to $19 more. Filers pay the extra amount set by the Court.
Beginning July 1, 2026, the Kansas Supreme Court can add up to $22 to each traffic docket fee. It can also add up to $22 to each license reinstatement fee for traffic citations. For wildlife and parks citations, it can add up to $22 on top of the $50 reinstatement fee. This authority ends June 30, 2030.
From July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2030, the Kansas Supreme Court can add up to $26.50 to each marriage license fee. Applicants pay the extra amount set by the Court.
From July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2030, the Court can add an extra charge to certain court services. The cap is the lesser of $26.50 or the normal statutory fee per service. The Court must send extra charges to the state treasurer for deposit in the state general fund. The law also creates a Judicial Branch Docket Fee Fund, managed by the Chief Justice; it cannot pay judges’ salaries and any spending needs an appropriation. The act repeals listed statutes tied to these fees and procedures.
