Voting members must live in taxing area

When a city, county, or unified city-county creates a local taxing area and appoints its board, all voting members must live in that area. This applies when the city or county imposes or authorizes a property tax there, or lets the board set a budget and spend for services. Any board member who does not live in the area serves as a nonvoting member. Elected members are exempt from this residency rule. The law takes effect upon publication in the statute book.
