Property tax break for Strother Field land

Beginning January 1, 1992, property owned before that date by the Strother Field Airport Commission or its member local governments is exempt from Kansas property taxes. The land must be shown on the airport’s federally approved layout plan. It must be used for aviation, to promote aviation business, or to raise money to run Strother Field. The law cancels any property taxes, penalties, and interest for tax years that began before January 1, 1992, but amounts already paid are not refunded. The law replaces the old statute with this expanded exemption.
