The law expands what counts as a conviction for commercial drivers. It includes an unvacated guilty finding or administrative determination, a forfeited bail or collateral, a guilty or no-contest plea accepted by the court, paying a fine or court cost, or breaking release terms without bail. This applies even if the penalty is suspended or on probation. Licensing agencies and employers can use these findings in CDL decisions. The act also repeals older sections and replaces them so the new definitions and rules apply.
Starting July 1, 2026, you can get a Pheasants Forever plate. Starting January 1, 2027, you can get a Delta Waterfowl plate. You must be a Kansas resident with a passenger car or a truck up to 20,000 pounds. You pay the normal registration plus an annual logo-use royalty of $25 to $100 per plate. Apply at least 60 days before your renewal. You consent to share basic registration information with the group and the state treasurer. Plates are not transferable, except the director may allow a transfer if you buy a vehicle you had leased.
Most vehicles must show the plate on the rear. Some vehicles, like truck tractors, antique model-year or personalized plates, concrete mixers, and certain heavy dump trucks, use a front plate. Mount the plate at least 12 inches off the ground, secure it, and keep it clean and readable. You cannot use any cover or frame that blocks or changes the plate’s visibility or reflectivity. Until January 1, 2027, officers give only a warning for frame or obstruction violations.
