New Louisiana Democratic Party plate carries fees

The law creates an optional Louisiana Democratic Party plate for Louisiana citizens with passenger cars, pickup trucks, recreational vehicles, or vans. The state must have at least 1,000 applicants and update its registration system before establishing the plate. The state and party chair choose a design that meets state standards and includes the words “Louisiana Democratic Party.” Each plate carries a $25 annual royalty and a $3.50 handling fee, on top of the regular vehicle license tax. Royalties go solely to Democratic Party of Louisiana activities; the state keeps handling fees to help cover administrative costs.
