Longer-lasting absentee applications for military, overseas voters

Beginning July 1, 2027, Louisiana military and overseas voters can use an absentee-by-mail application for at least two years. That period starts when the registrar receives the application and must include at least one regularly scheduled federal general election. Voters can use the Federal Post Card Application or an application sent electronically by the registrar or secretary of state. The registrar must receive the application by 4:30 p.m. the day before the election. If the registrar rejects it, the registrar must give written reasons.
