Enrollment priority for some charter school students

Eligible Louisiana charter schools can choose to give certain students enrollment priority, but priority does not guarantee admission. Entering kindergarten students qualify if they attended a licensed early learning center run by the charter school. They also qualify after at least 75 days at another licensed center that has an enrollment agreement with the school. Other eligible students include those whose parent or legal guardian serves in active military service. Students placed in foster care through the Department of Children and Family Services also qualify, as do students covered by a court-ordered custody plan. This authority excludes charter schools in districts where most schools were transferred from the local district to the Recovery School District.
