New pay rules for parole board members

The law removes fixed salary caps for Louisiana Board of Pardons and Committee on Parole members, including two at-large appointees. Lawmakers now set annual pay through a specific state budget appropriation; the law sets no dollar amounts. The chairman gets 10% more than a regular member, and the vice chairman gets 5% more. The member who serves because of another office—the ex-officio member—is excluded from these pay rules. Pay and reimbursement for necessary travel and other costs actually incurred on official duties come from the corrections department’s general operating fund. The department secretary authorizes the annual amount.
