Limited debt referrals for driver reinstatement fees

Louisiana’s motor vehicle office faces limits on referring certain final, overdue reinstatement-fee debts to the Office of Debt Recovery. Debts under R.S. 32:863(A)(3)(a) are excluded from its general referral authority. The motor vehicle office can still refer these debts at its discretion under a separate law. The debt remains owed; this law does not cancel it.
