Tinian Casino Gaming Control Commission members receive $55,000 yearly through a Commission budget funded by the Tinian Legislative Delegation. This annual pay also applies to new commissioners. When lack of funds prevents an appropriation, annual pay stops until funding is available and the Delegation appropriates it. During that suspension, meeting pay is capped at $60 for a full day or $30 for a half-day or less. Members receive no annual back pay for suspended periods and no fringe benefits. They are entitled to payment or reimbursement for actual, reasonable duty-related expenses, including travel outside Tinian. Within 60 days after the Commission receives its first casino license application and application fee, members must work full time. They cannot hold other employment during their service after that deadline. Members elect a chairman and vice-chairman for two-year terms, with reelection allowed. They are not employees of the Commission or Commonwealth government. The law preserves existing contract and other protected rights, ongoing proceedings under prior law, and existing liabilities. It took effect upon the Governor's approval or becoming law without that approval.
