New Jersey districts that moved school elections to November can propose extra spending for the budget year, the next year, or both. Proposals must identify spending purposes and get the required voter or board-of-school-estimate approval. When voters approve next-year funds, districts cannot also add the specified unused tax-levy allowance to that year's levy. This creates more spending options but limits one way to raise school property taxes; it guarantees no household tax change. These rules first apply to the first full school year after the law's January 12, 2026 enactment.
