Effective October 22, 2024, the law provides $20 million from New Jersey's General Fund for summer 2025 tuition grants. Eligible Summer Tuition Aid Grant applicants receive 75% of their qualifying maximum grant amount. Awards can rise above 75%, up to 100%, based on the student aid executive director's surplus projection as of March 31, 2025. This increase also requires unused funds carried into the Tuition Aid Grants account at the fiscal year's start. The executive director sets the higher award percentage and the extra funding needed. Transferring that money from the Tuition Aid Grants account to the summer grant account requires the state budget director's approval.
