Emergency repair help for participating homeowners

Beginning December 12, 2024, New Jersey’s State rental assistance program must set aside funds for a Home Repair Emergency Assistance Fund. Homebuying help for housing voucher households

Beginning December 12, 2024, New Jersey’s State rental assistance program must set aside funds to help participating households buy homes. Households can use a voucher for monthly homeownership help or a one-time down-payment grant. Housing authorities handling federal Section 8 vouchers must offer a homeownership program or allow transfers to the state department’s federal voucher program. These transfers let households take part in its homeownership program. The law sets no funding share or household assistance amount.

Help for voucher families toward financial independence

Beginning December 12, 2024, New Jersey’s State rental assistance program must set aside funds for a family self-sufficiency program. The law sets no funding share or household benefit amount.
