The law caps combined tax credits across covered New Jersey incentive programs at $11.5 billion over nine years. Within that cap, $2.5 billion is reserved for transformative Aspire projects. Beginning in fiscal year 2025, up to $500 million annually is available for Next New Jersey artificial intelligence projects. These credits come from Aspire and Emerge allocations, excluding credits awarded for transformative projects.
The New Jersey Economic Development Authority must post details of each approved Next New Jersey tax credit transfer online. These include who transferred and received the credit, its value, the State tax it can cover, and the price paid.
Buyers or other recipients of transferred Next New Jersey tax credit certificates cannot sell, assign, or transfer them again. This prevents anyone who acquires a transferred certificate from passing it to another holder.
