Public bodies keep print and online notices

Public bodies can keep using newspapers they used or were allowed to use during January 1–December 31, 2024. This permission covers required public notices and legal ads from January 1 through June 30, 2025, in print or online. Electronic publication includes websites and other publishing technology run by or for a newspaper. Publishing charges cannot exceed existing state-law rates. Online notices and legal ads must be free to view, with no registration required. The law takes effect February 28, 2025; covered newspapers and online news publishers must report data 30 days later. Reports must list paid digital subscriptions and unpaid digital or print subscriptions by public body, plus daily newspaper sales through retailers. They must include notice and legal-ad charges by public body for 2020–2024 and average retail prices for digital and print subscriptions. Reports must also include daily notice-page views from January 1, 2024, through February 28, 2025, and other information the Legislative Services Commission requests. Publishers submit this information to the Office of Legislative Services' Office of Public Information for distribution to the commission.
