More college fee help for Guard members
Eligible Oklahoma National Guard members get help with resident tuition, mandatory fees, program fees, academic service fees, and other approved course fees. Members must be in good standing, have a high school diploma or GED, and enroll in an approved program. They must also be admitted to an Oklahoma institution within the state's public higher education system. The State Regents for Higher Education and Oklahoma Military Department must jointly review and approve fees before any payment decision. Aid remains limited to 18 credit hours per semester and depends on available funds, applicant numbers, and institutional review and approval. Fee approval does not guarantee payment. The act lists July 1, 2025, but its emergency clause makes it effective upon passage and approval; the approval date is not provided.
New limits on Guard education aid
Oklahoma National Guard members must have a Military Occupational Specialty or Air Force Specialty Code after their first semester. Without that military job qualification, they cannot keep eligibility for education aid. The Oklahoma Military Department may also limit participation each semester, separately for each undergraduate or graduate program. The law sets no specific participant limit and does not require the Department to set one.
