More flexible disaster funding for Oklahoma

Effective upon passage and approval, the law gives Oklahoma’s Department of Commerce more flexibility to fund eligible disaster work. The state Treasury fund carries money across budget years and has nine accounts assigned to eligible entities. One account is split equally into two subaccounts, each available to a designated entity for its jurisdiction’s communities. These subaccounts support cities, towns, or areas outside city and town limits. The department can place up to all available fund money into any account or subaccount, choosing amounts as needed at any time. Each entity remains limited to one account per budget year, and yearly spending cannot exceed that account’s available money. Fund money cannot pay the department’s administrative costs, salaries, or other ongoing obligations. The law states no new dollar amount or direct household payment.
