Single probate notice and set deadlines

Beginning November 1, 2026, Oklahoma probate cases can use one combined notice. It replaces separate newspaper notices for creditors and for summary administration steps. After the petition and combined notice, the court skips regular steps and sets one final hearing. The combined notice must be filed within 5 days after the court’s order. It must run once a week for two weeks, with the first run within 10 days of filing; if no legal newspaper exists, it is posted at three public places, including the courthouse. Within 10 days of the order, the notice must be mailed to known creditors and to all interested persons. Creditor claims are due within 30 days after the order, or they are barred. The final hearing is set at least 45 days after the order. Anyone interested may object before the hearing; not objecting may waive objections. If someone objects, the judge decides at the hearing whether any will is valid, whether summary administration is proper, and who receives the estate. The law does not affect any estate or transfer tax lien. The notice must include key facts, like the decedent, petitioner, will status, heirs, estate value, hearing details, how to object, and claim instructions.
