Oklahoma expands cancer testing and imaging coverage
Beginning November 1, 2025, covered Oklahoma health plans must cover certain cancer genetic tests and imaging, including the Oklahoma Employees Insurance Plan. This applies to plans offered, issued, or renewed on or after that date. Multi-gene testing for inherited cancer risk is covered for people with a personal or family history of cancer. Evidence-based cancer screening and imaging are covered for people at increased cancer risk. Both services must be clinically useful and ordered or recommended by a health care provider following approved evidence standards. These include current National Comprehensive Cancer Network guidelines rated Category 2A or higher, or other nationally recognized guidelines. Genetic testing can also follow Medicare national or local coverage determinations. These services are not subject to the annual deductibles, copayments, or coinsurance limits applied to other covered benefits. If this rule threatens health savings account eligibility, a qualified high-deductible plan applies it after the federal minimum deductible is met. Federally permitted preventive care remains covered under this rule before that deductible is met.
