Higher longevity pay for state workers

The law raises annual longevity pay for eligible state employees. It sets fixed lump sums: $375 at 2–4 years, $3,000 at 20 years, then $300 more every two years after that. Pay is once a year; you must be in pay status on or after your anniversary; part‑time or long unpaid leave cases are prorated, and total pay across agencies cannot exceed your tier. It applies broadly to state employees, but boards and commissions, higher education institutions, public school districts, and elected officials are excluded; the Schools for the Blind and Deaf may qualify, and conservation districts may run a matching program. The act declares an emergency for immediate effect and also states an effective date of July 1, 2026.
