The law renews Oklahoma’s food bank tax refund donation program, with a reauthorization date of January 1, 2026. Individual and corporate filers can give $2, $5, or another chosen amount from their refunds. Giving is voluntary and reduces the refund the filer receives. The option applies to tax years beginning after December 31, 2007. Donations enter a continuing state fund that the Department of Human Services uses to fund regional food banks statewide. Eligible food banks must be tax-exempt 501(c)(3) nonprofits in a food bank network, supplying food to nonprofits serving people in need. Filers who donate by mistake can claim the money back within three years of the tax return’s due date. Those repayments are deducted from the following year’s donations and moved to the state’s income tax refund account. The act lists July 1, 2025, as its effective date and also includes an emergency clause stating immediate effect upon passage and approval.
