Beginning July 1, 2025, Oklahoma county retirement systems can receive higher combined employer and employee contributions. The cap rises from 18.5% to 22% of each member’s monthly pay and stays at 22% afterward. The retirement committee can divide required contributions between employers and employees, so the law sets no specific payroll deduction increase. Counties must budget at least as much as employees contribute, subject to county excise board approval. County funding is capped at 22% of covered employees’ current annual salaries. Payments require verified claims from the fund treasurer, trustee approval, and confirmation by the trustees’ clerk. The law also removes employers’ option to raise July 2021–June 2022 contributions retroactively to 18.5%.
