New adventure routes for Puerto Rico visitors

Effective immediately upon approval, the law requires Puerto Rico’s Tourism Office to choose participating towns and regions and create routes linking adventure activities and extreme sports. The Office must train certified guides to lead the routes and coordinate optional transportation for foreign tourists. The Office and Destination Marketing Organization must promote the routes to local and foreign visitors, coordinating with recreation officials and other agencies. Tourism and transportation agencies must plan signs and map distribution, with transportation agencies providing advice to ensure signs meet public-road traffic standards. The Tourism Office’s Executive Director must post places to visit, food businesses, restaurants, lodging, and interactive maps on the Office’s websites.
