Cameras ticket drivers who block intersections

Rhode Island cities and towns can use cameras at up to three marked "Don't Block the Box" intersections. The cameras only check for the state's blocking-the-box rule. The DOT director must approve each system before use. Systems must capture clear images of the vehicle and license plate. If a camera records a violation, you can get a ticket. This authority ends January 15, 2030. It adds automated enforcement to help keep intersections clear.
