New waterfowl licenses for nonresident military members

Active-duty U.S. military members who are not South Dakota residents can buy one three-day waterfowl license each fall. The license covers only private land in any hunting unit that issues temporary nonresident waterfowl licenses. Buyers must show valid military identification and obtain a federal migratory bird stamp and a migratory bird certification permit. The Department of Game, Fish and Parks must limit these licenses to 100 per year. The Game, Fish and Parks Commission cannot count these 100 licenses toward other license limits.
