Fee caps for South Dakota accounting professionals

The South Dakota Board of Accountancy sets fees through rules, within the law’s caps. Certificate issuance, renewal, reissuance, and late renewal fees are each capped at $100. Non-practicing registrations, substantial-equivalency filings, and specified late filings also have $100 caps. Exam and retake fees are capped at $450 per section; the Board can authorize outside providers to collect them. Firm permit and late renewal fees are capped at $100 per owner plus $100 for the firm. Permit fees can be flat or tiered. Certificate or permit replacements are capped at $50, and fees to modify disciplinary actions are capped at $1,000. Peer-review fees are capped at $125, plus $75 for a late form. The law does not state the actual fees charged or establish savings compared with past fees.
