High school student advisor on boards

The law requires any district board that runs a high school to adopt and carry out a policy. The policy must let a high school student serve as an advisory, nonvoting member during public meetings. The board may decide whether the student is elected or selected under its policy. Boards may add extra eligibility rules. The student cannot be paid or reimbursed. Boards are exempt if, before July 1, 2025, they already created a student advisory group. The group must include at least one student from each high school and meet regularly. The requirement to adopt a policy is effective immediately. All other parts take effect July 1, 2025.
