New circuit court for 28th district

The law creates one additional circuit court in Tennessee’s twenty-eighth judicial district. The Governor appoints a judge to serve until September 1, 2026, or until a successor is elected and qualified. Voters in the district elect a judge at the August 2026 general election. The judge elected in 2026 serves until September 1, 2030. After that, the seat is filled by election to an eight-year term.
