Tennessee drivers get electronic registration protections
Beginning July 1, 2025, Tennessee officers must accept electronic proof of vehicle registration, subject to these limits. Officers can reject images that are too unclear or that they believe are false or inaccurate. They can request more information and reject proof they cannot verify. Showing registration does not give officers consent to access other content on your device. The law also replaces “motor-propelled vehicle” with “motor vehicle” in one vehicle-law subsection.
