Tennessee study on juvenile detention and housing

The law requires the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations to study local juvenile detention and housing. It reviews facilities for youth held before a hearing and whether more are needed. It also reviews housing and treatment for youth adjudicated delinquent in DCS custody and any need for more options. TACIR must use its existing resources, and DCS and other state and local agencies must provide any information TACIR requests. TACIR must send findings and any proposed laws to every legislator and the legislative librarian by January 31, 2026; the report may be delivered electronically. The law takes effect upon becoming law and does not change taxes or benefits now.
