Beginning July 1, 2026, school employees can change a student's grade. This applies when the student earned the new grade by retaking a failed course, exam, or assignment. The retake must be through a program that lets students earn credit from retakes. Changes can appear on transcripts or other academic records. In these cases, changing the grade is not a legal violation.
