Patient voices required on Tennessee cannabis commission
Effective upon becoming law, the act requires the governor to appoint three members to Tennessee’s Medical Cannabis Commission. One must be a qualifying patient or caregiver. A patient must have a qualifying medical diagnosis and a valid letter confirming it. A caregiver can care for a qualifying patient or have cared for a patient who has died. One member must know about cannabis cultivation, processing, shipping, distribution, or prescribing for medical use. The third must meet the patient or caregiver requirements, or qualify under the law’s other listed membership category. The commission must report findings and recommendations, including policy recommendations, to state lawmakers about medical cannabis use in Tennessee. This law changes commission membership and reporting, not patient eligibility for medical cannabis.
