Beginning January 1, 2026, TennCare and CoverKids can cover psychiatric collaborative care. Coverage is available when the state finds the care medically necessary. This team model links your primary doctor, a care manager, and a psychiatric consultant.
Beginning January 1, 2026, health plans that cover mental health or substance use must cover team‑based psychiatric care. Plans must pay for services delivered through a psychiatric collaborative care model (PCCM). A plan can deny PCCM care that is not medically necessary. A PCCM links your primary doctor, a care manager, and a psychiatric consultant. The law does not set payment rates.
