Tennessee starts assessment with hospital payment limits
The law takes effect immediately upon becoming law. Tennessee imposes its annual coverage assessment on covered entities once all required federal decisions are obtained except the approval in § 71-5-2003(b)(1)(B). Under this path, specified hospital payments are limited to the fiscal year 2024 amount set by 2023 Public Chapter 232. The division can set a higher amount after consulting the Tennessee Hospital Association, within federal approval limits. Those limits come from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The temporary payment limit ends only after all required federal decisions are obtained and the division sends the Association written notice.
