Tennessee’s open government committee gets meeting support

Effective upon becoming law, Tennessee’s Office of Open Records Counsel has a formal role supporting the Advisory Committee on Open Government. The office can select the required annual meeting date only when the committee has not elected co-chairs. A majority of members must also request this help in writing, including email. The office can reserve a meeting room in the state comptroller’s offices. It must post meeting notices and committee-provided agendas and minutes on the comptroller’s website. For meetings called under this authority, members must submit agenda items at least 72 hours beforehand. The office must build the agenda from those items and provide electronic participation consistent with applicable state law.
