Prosecutors get help with officer-removal cases
Tennessee district attorneys can appoint another district’s chief prosecutor or that prosecutor’s assistant to handle specific officer-removal cases. The appointing attorney must have legal authority to conduct those cases in the district where they take place. The other district’s chief prosecutor must agree. The law took effect immediately upon becoming law and does not change the underlying officer-removal rules.
