More crimes count as racketeering in 2025

Tennessee expands what counts as racketeering. Organized retail crime, having or using a firearm during a dangerous felony, and carjacking now qualify as predicate acts. Prosecutors can use these acts to build racketeering cases against groups, which can bring tougher charges. The law takes effect July 1, 2025, for offenses committed on or after that date.
