The Tennessee Department of Education provides at least one free, asynchronous course on using AI in the classroom. The content is created by a group with computer science or other STEM experience. Teachers in grades 6–12 must complete one department‑approved asynchronous AI course by August 1, 2028, or within two years of getting a Tennessee teaching license, whichever is later. School districts and public charter schools must give professional development points for completing a department‑approved AI training under state licensure rules.
