Virtual students can play school sports

Public schools must let virtual school students join interscholastic sports under set rules. If the school belongs to a sports governing group, a virtual student can play by meeting that group’s eligibility rules. If the school is not a member but offers sports, a zoned virtual student who is otherwise eligible to attend the school can play. Coaches and school officials still decide who makes the team; this law does not guarantee a roster spot.
