Beginning July 1, 2025, certain fully online, self-paced private schools are exempt from class size, school-day length, and student vaccination rules. To qualify, a school must be accredited by the Distance Education Accreditation Commission and also regionally accredited under the state board’s Category III list. Families using these schools get more scheduling and enrollment flexibility. But this also removes a vaccine-based health protection for those students. The state board may adopt rules now, and the change applies to the 2025–26 school year and after.
