Renew car registration by mail, with fees

Beginning July 1, 2025, you can renew your car registration by mail. County clerks must offer this service through the United States Postal Service. Your mailed application must be postmarked at least 20 days before your registration expires. Clerks may charge $7 for a plate and $3 for a decal. They may raise these fees each year, but not by more than that year’s Postal Service price increase.
